ELSA and the Academic Board of the John H Jackson Moot Court Competition have been closely following the rapid developments with respect to the spread of the COVID-19 (“Coronavirus”). Our hearts go out to all individuals and communities that have been affected. The virus and the response to it has resulted in significant disruptions in international travel including restrictions on travel to and from certain affected areas in the whole world.
In light of these extraordinary circumstances ELSA decided that all the Regional Rounds will be moving to a virtual moot using Microsoft Teams video conference. The teams will be personally informed about the dates and specifics of the Regional Round they have been allocatedto. Please find below the amended rules of the Competition for the Virtual Regional Rounds.
With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Final Oral Round of the 18th edition of John H. Jackson Moot Court will not be organised in-person. This decision was made by ELSA International and the Academic Board of the Competition.
As you know, the virus and the response to it has resulted in significant disruptions in international travel, including restrictions on travel to and from certain affected areas in the whole world. At the moment, it is unclear when air traffic will be restored. Moreover, many countries, including Switzerland, maintain restrictions on large gatherings of people and it is difficult to predict when such restrictions will be lifted.
We have decided, therefore, to move the Final Oral Round to a virtual platform, just like we did with the All American, African, East Asia & Oceania and South & West Asia Regional Rounds. The dates for this round will remain – 23 to 28 June 2020.
